Many themes from the album play a large part in the imagery of this bandana-basics inspired design. The woods, the concept of home, the pervasiveness of religion, the awe of science, etc.

Positive note: The maze at the center is solvable.

To the benefit of their customers, Beauty Alert! makes available an inexpensive product like no other. Stick-on labels or a smart phone app are easily used to track the longevity of each of your cosmetics.

To help spread the word about their product, the founders of Beauty Alert! commissioned me to design for them an eye-catching greeting card. It was a challenge making what is basically a PSA about the infections one can contract from expired cosmetics into a card you might give to a friend. However, with a nod to campy 50s horror movie posters and a chillingly gossipy tag line, I think we may have pulled it off.

When asked about her experience working with me, co-owner Stacya Silverman had this to say:

I was commissioned by Kindred Media who produced these videos with the help of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The video I contributed to focused on English and writing. In this video, Portland author April Henry reads from her young-adult thriller, Girl, Stolen, about a blind teenage girl who is accidentally kidnapped when her stepmother’s car is stolen. The illustrations I produced were based upon these readings as well as key points about April Henry’s writing process. The illustrations were animated by a motion graphics team to integrate them into the video, of which I hope to have an up-loadable copy soon!
