Beauty Alert! is a company with conviction. Their goal is to introduce into public knowledge what has been overlooked for decades: beauty products and cosmetics expire! The expiration of beauty products is not only a matter of decreased effectiveness, but also a matter of personal health, since a myriad of bacterias and microbes make an easy home in these products once they are opened.
To the benefit of their customers, Beauty Alert! makes available an inexpensive product like no other. Stick-on labels or a smart phone app are easily used to track the longevity of each of your cosmetics.
To help spread the word about their product, the founders of Beauty Alert! commissioned me to design for them an eye-catching greeting card. It was a challenge making what is basically a PSA about the infections one can contract from expired cosmetics into a card you might give to a friend. However, with a nod to campy 50s horror movie posters and a chillingly gossipy tag line, I think we may have pulled it off.
When asked about her experience working with me, co-owner Stacya Silverman had this to say:
