Educurious is a Seattle video series targeted at under-served high school students, specifically at schools with statistically high dropout rates. The purpose of each video is to teach students about interesting career fields they can pursue using the knowledge they learn in high school and beyond.
I was commissioned by Kindred Media who produced these videos with the help of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The video I contributed to focused on English and writing. In this video, Portland author April Henry reads from her young-adult thriller, Girl, Stolen, about a blind teenage girl who is accidentally kidnapped when her stepmother’s car is stolen. The illustrations I produced were based upon these readings as well as key points about April Henry’s writing process. The illustrations were animated by a motion graphics team to integrate them into the video, of which I hope to have an up-loadable copy soon!
